BackWerk - Fresh & tasty

BackWerk sees itself as a brand at the cutting edge, one that understands its customers’ needs and is constantly evolving. What began in 2001 as the ‘inventor of the self-service bakery’ is now the perfect blend of bakery and catering. In 2026, BackWerk will celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Whether for on the go or to eat in, BackWerk offers a constant supply of freshly prepared filled rolls, sweet and savoury baked goods, hot snacks, hot drinks and soft drinks. The diverse range also includes numerous vegetarian and vegan options – including oat milk for coffee – as well as a selection of juices and smoothies in many stores.

BackWerk offers a flexible store format. This includes shops in city centres, high-traffic locations such as train stations or motorways, as well as pop-up outlets in petrol stations or large retail outlets.

The brand has been part of the Valora Group since 2017, which has been part of the Mexican FEMSA Group since 2022. In 2021, the Valora Group acquired the German snack specialist Back-Factory. The 80 stores in total are now gradually being converted to BackWerk.
